Roccapina
A nobleman who was known by the Barbars as The Lion was said to have turned to stone after having invoked death before a young girl who rejected his advances. This is the legend that surrounds the famous Lion of Roccapina, a rocky outcrop in the shape of the king of the beasts.
The Lion lies watching over the gulf and gives this site its extraordinary appearance. At its feet can be found a treasure fit for a king. An example of everything that the rivers of the island offer to those in search of paradise: beaches of white sand, turquoise waters, the maquis scrub and the pine trees that afford just enough shade to allow visitors to feel totally at ease. Throughout the cape there are many sites that invite you to fall into this kind of reverie, from the Ergaghju creek in the north to Roccapina in the south. This site is located in the south of the Sartenais and is accessible by car, taking a dirt track off the national road that leads down to the wild coasts of the Extrême-Sud. It’s an enchanting spot, ever popular with holidaymakers, and one of the must-see highlights of the island.
