ATALANTA J

ATALANTA J is a stunning classic motor yacht, originally built in 1958 by the De Vries Shipyard to a design by De Voogt. These names, De Vries and De Voogt, are synonymous with Feadship, the world-renowned leader in the design and construction of the finest Dutch yachts. Initially named SIROCCO, this remarkable yacht was commissioned by Mr. B.E. Ruys, a notable ship owner from Rotterdam. At the time of her construction, she was the largest motor yacht being built in Holland.

Undergoing a comprehensive two-year refit in Holland in 2007, overseen by naval architect Felix Buytendijk, ATALANTA J was meticulously restored to her former glory. More recently, in 2014, she received further upgrades in Hamburg, which included the reconfiguration of the aft deck. These modifications enhanced storage and seating capacity, creating a sheltered area under the semi-permanent Bimini—ideal for modern Mediterranean cruising.

The previous owner of ATALANTA J demonstrated her exceptional sea-keeping abilities by undertaking four solo trans-Atlantic voyages. Though she now requires some attention both above and below decks to restore her to her prime condition, her teak on steel structure remains as robust and sound as ever, ready to offer many more years of service.
